Snowfall

I can’t even begin to express how nice it was to have just enough snow to be pretty, but not enough to cause me to head into work. After working late on Thursday night for the “Bless our Children” special, I was hoping for a nice, quiet morning.

…and I’m glad to say I got one! Granted, it may have been an earlier morning than I’d have liked – but it was such a pretty snowfall out there that I couldn’t stay in bed.

Here’s one of the pictures we took whilst out and about in today’s snow. There are a few more located at our SmugMug gallery. I really like being able to have the images hosted in their original resolution, and also to have access to everything in different sizes.

The count of pictures taken so far is up somewhere around 1,200 (most of them being of Earl, and most of them not worth posting!) I’m amazed that the battery has only needed charging twice. Our old Powershot camera needed a charge every 30 pictures or so – and that was with a brand new battery!

I can’t wait until spring, when everything comes back to life and it’s warm enough outside to take some pictures without experiencing numbness in my extremities.

When I Was Your Age…

…our games weren’t on some flimsy, shiny disc thing that can get scratched up by looking at it!

So, I can’t help but be amused at this video of Canadians trying to destroy old NES games.

Bookshelves

One thing I miss about the attic in the old house was the storage in the eaves. There was a section that I used as bookshelves, and it kept every one of my Doctor Who books within easy reach. As this picture shows, I’ve only got one shelf dedicated to them now – with the rest up in the attic tucked away.

I stopped counting how many of them I wound up with. Every one of the “New Adventures” books is upstairs, as well as a smattering of Target books. Most of the ones kept downstairs are from the later BBC Books range.

The rest of the bookshelf is filled with some graphic novels, Dilbert books and Beach Boys/Brian Wilson related books. There aren’t any classic works of great literature kept there, because I don’t really them all that often…if at all. Like my television viewing, my reading seems to be focused in on things that I know I’ll like. There’s not too much adventure there.

Truth be told, I should probably work to change that.

Worst. Rescue. Ever.

I haven’t got the mental ability to write anything meaningful right now, so forgive these late night ramblings. As much as I’d love to write a review of “The End of Time” – the words aren’t coming. The ideas are there, but not making the trek from my brain to my fingers. Such is life.

This weekend’s television viewing has been based around David Tennant dying. First came “The End of Time” last night, followed by “Hamlet” tonight. Hopefully I haven’t gone and spoiled the end of “Hamlet” for anyone. If I had the time, I’d photoshop Matt Smith into the death scene at the end.

On another note, it’s absolutely hilarious that there is an internet poll on the gay man of the decade going on – and it’s down to a race between Barney Stinson and Captain Jack Harkness. Well, it’s down to the actors who play those characters, but still.

…and as it were, sorry Captain – I voted for Barney. I can’t help it, he’s legen-

(wait for it…)
